The letters of a Devout Dog

Dear friend Kitt Cat,

I recently heard that Domino is going Vegetarian for Navratri- the festival of season change. Turns out that people are loving it! I guess misery loves company, eh?

Anybhow, you had once asked me how I get everything that I wish for. It is rather interesting to see you jealous and call me lucky when you are the one who pounces on everything without considering humans or me. Well, I make my own luck. Two words of advice for you- fasting and feasting. I fast during Navratri. Like Dominos, I go Vegetarian too.

It’s quite comical to see the commotion around this festival. It is a great feast a day before it begins as one has to gulp down all the eggs and non-vegetarian food at home before welcoming the Goddesses. Let’s admit it, my humans look for me to gobble up all the ‘forbidden’ food and it is a riot! During the fasts, I just have to roll over my back and look tired and these humans bring me the choicest of fruits, milk and bread. I even played dead once and they ended up giving  me a chocolate. Such sugar bhownanzas, I tell you!

The perks of being faithful to traditions and no cheating during fasts, you ask? The after-party is such amazing fun that it makes me a believer in human times. Eggs, fish, chicken, you name it!  Nothing like that street stuff you rummage in the bins at nights.

You know, my human family may have 99 faults but fasting ain’t one. Have you seen what it does to my body? I achieve the beachbody I have been lusting after for years in just nine days. It is another matter that I lose it just as quickly. Try it once, It’ll help you resist all those catnips. Stronger pet minds conquer humans faster.
