70 Dogs Single-Handedly Saved in Little Rann of Kutch

Rescue Dogs- Rann of Kutch

Salt farmers producing salt in the Little Rann of Kutch tend to take stray dogs along with them for getting their hutments as well as machinery guarded. These farmers return back without the dogs, leaving them abandoned in Kutch. And, since these vulnerable strays aren’t spayed they multiply causing a bigger problem.

It has been more than 10 days since Rajkumari Dubey, an animal ally, has been relentlessly roaming the vast desert of Kutch rescuing these stray dogs in this deadly heat. Till now she has saved around 70 dogs independently.

“In the peculiar dual ecosystem of the Little Rann of Kutch, once the monsoon sets in, the entire desert will be filled with neck-deep salty water wherein these dogs would not survive. Season after season, numerous strays succumb to heat & starvation,” said Dubey who apparently has run out of cages to save these little creatures.

People for Animals (PFA), a non-profit organization working towards animal welfare has been raising awareness regarding this issue. Also, they are planning to visit the area with a bigger team and resources to help out in rescuing the dogs.
