Automatic Feeding Device For Streeties in Making!

Stray Animals India

There are approximately 18 million stray animals on the streets of India, mostly hungry and neglected. And it’s difficult for those generous souls who do feed them to cater to every homeless baby. Keeping this concern in mind, three class 10th students from Shiv Nadar School, Delhi have come up with the concept of a device that can automatically feed stray animals

The device is called ‘Voice’ and can be used by NGOs, animal shelter homes, residential societies, etc. It comprises a compact metal-cased smart feeder and a removable lid to refill dry dog food.

What’s impressive is that it has an in-built camera and sensor that uses computer vision to identify the dog based on several parameters like colour, build etc. This AI-enabled technology within the feeder triggers the delivery of dog food, which then slides down from the container into a tray that is placed at the bottom. Moreover, ‘Voice’ comes with a built-in UV sanitization mechanism.

Although the primary purpose of this device is to ensure the feeding of the stray population, it can also be helpful for working pet parents. Soon, a mobile application will be created for their convenience.
