Dogs are extremely susceptible to dehydration in the hot summer months. The hypothalamus acts as an in-built thermostat in humans. When it senses a rise in temperature, it directs the blood flow towards the skin surface, encouraging the body to sweat and cool itself down. However, dogs have no such defense mechanism and resort to panting in the heat, making them more prone to heat stress and dehydration.

Heavier dogs are often at a higher risk of becoming dehydrated, and dogs with darker coats are more likely to absorb heat than the ones with lighter coats, which reflect.
To beat the heat, it is recommended that you plan your days more strategically, shift walk times and ensure a fresh supply of water for your dog wherever you go. Some tips to keep in mind:
