They say, you can find hope in a dog’s eyes. Sounds out-worldly when read without context. But the story of Hachiko reaffirms our belief in the unbounded love a canine has for his two-legged hooman. Anecdotes of the like of Hachiko's aren’t far-fetched! One such heart-wrenching tale is that of a true-blue canine named Negao, who on one unfortunate day, lost his best friend but still waits for him to return.

Situated in Santa Catarina, Brazil, this story is about a devoted dog who has been retaining his stand for eight months at the Ruth Cardoso Hospital, where his owner was last seen, being rushed to the hospital on account of falling ill. The pitiful soul seems to have no idea or understanding that his parent left the living quite some time ago. Like the truly devout mortal that Negao is, he raced alongside the ambulance, watched his world get taken in to the hospital and has been waiting for his return ever since, solid at the same spot where he last felt his best friend’s presence.

The staff at the hospital is touched by the movie-like heroism of Negao and reckon it their duty to make sure he is well fed, sheltered and kept cheerful! "He will stay here with us until he decides if he wants to leave or not," a hospital staff member said. “As long as he remains here, we will give all the care, warmth and love he needs."

Who says that dogs can’t speak? They do, but only to those who know how to listen.
