It was still dark out and I couldn’t hear the birds chirping when the noises woke me up. I walked out of bed to see their bags stacked by the main door. I knew at once that they were going on a vacation without me, yet again! As I was about to sulk back to bed, preparing for the lonely days ahead, something extraordinary happened. They called out, “Oscar, come on boy.” Mom put my leash on and ushered me out the door with them. Oh, the joy!
I was really anxious when we got to the two huge blue buses. I had never been inside one of them before. What if I could never get out? I reluctantly got in; and then, I saw her! She was the most beautiful canine I had ever seen and I rushed to introduce myself. But, I was not alone; turns out she had three more suitors! We stopped many times during the ride, mostly to pee and eat, and then to pee again. My buddies and I got to pee in a field full of haystacks. Ain’t that cool? Being one with nature! My friends from Pet Fed and MakeMyTrip took good care of us.
After breakfast, the humans played some game that involved drawing and yelling out answers; they got most of them wrong, eh! Gazing out of the window with my tummy gurgling due to the winding road I could see green mountains closing in. After a lot of dizzy turns, the bus stopped again. We landed in our resort in Rishikesh. My legs shaky from the journey, I wiggled unsteadily to my room and took a power nap.
All refreshed, we all harnessed up for a down hill trek. We walked through beautiful trees on a gravelly path. It was a long walk, but the spectacular view of the river flowing through the green valley made it all worth it. As we headed back I could hear the crickets chirping. I became alert as nightfall closed in. Once back at the resort, my human decided to put me on a trampoline. How was that a good idea? I felt dizzy! But after a while, as I started bouncing up and down, I felt tickles in my tummy.
A knock on the door woke me up with a start the next morning. They put on my harness again and we trekked down a steep hill to the river bank. Were we going there for a bath? I hate those! Turns out, we were only going to hang out in the icy cool water. But, I didn’t know how to swim and that really scared me. All my doggie friends looked nervous too; at least we were in this together. Aaron, the doggie behaviorist (read shrink) helped me waddle in the river. I felt so alive! After the great swimming session we walked back to the resort shaking off the water and soaking in the beautiful mountain sun. Soon enough, we packed up and left for home. This was a short trip but I can’t wait to see the big blue bus of fun again.
