Vaccination of over 300 dogs done in Malad, Mumbai

Over 300 local community dogs were vaccinated against rabies and other health issues at the Mindspace area in Malad (west). The funds were raised through groups like the Rotary Club of Mumbai West Coast and individual donors.

Swapna Sankhe said, "We began by administering the anti-rabies and 9-in-1 vaccines, and also deworming medicines, to the local canine population in Malad with the help of groups like Save Our Stray groups and Rotary. The issue of raising funds for animal welfare is always challenging, which is why we have to reach out to philanthropists, NGOs, etc. for this work.”

As it is not an easy task taking care of several dogs and cats every day, many animal feeders and activists also do crowdfunding campaigns on social media groups for the availability of funds. Swapna further added, "The purpose of our vaccination drive was also to raise awareness about the importance of animal welfare, as lives of humans and animals are interlinked; hence it is important to keep animals fit and healthy."

In this regard, the Rotary Club raised funds from its members by organizing an online tambola event.
