Every day, we scroll past countless adoption appeals, sad missing posters, and comments asking, "Is this beautiful kitten still available?"

We all want to help, but the reality is that it’s hard to know what’s genuine, who to contact, or whether the pet is still looking for a home. Sometimes, you reach out only to realise the post is outdated, the pet has already been adopted, or the details are incomplete. 

Adoption failures happen, too - another painful reality. And, when a pet is back where they have started, their appeal can quickly get lost in the noise. It's just a reflection of a much bigger problem happening beyond our screens – on the streets where animals are struggling to survive, invisible and forgotten.

The bustling streets don’t pause for an injured, sick, or lost animal. For them, basic needs are daily threats. Finding a meal is just luck. Sleep is risking a car's bumper. Seeking a place to rest often results in being chased away with sticks and stones, and their only source of hydration may be polluted drains.

Safety is never guaranteed on the street. If seriously hurt, survival entirely relies on the sheer chance of being spotted. Once found, shelters and rescuers work tirelessly to feed, vaccinate, and nurse them back to health. 

But the balance is broken: countless animals in need and healing spaces are scarce. Overcrowding is an alarming issue in shelters, meaning less space for critical cases and a high risk of easily transmissible diseases like Parvo and Distemper, often giving young pups and kittens a low chance of survival. The truth is, a temporary shelter can never replace a loving, permanent home.
