In the past few months, India has seen a positive trend when it comes to humans welcoming canines in their world. With the presence of therapy dogs at the Mumbai airport to the puppy-on-demand initiative by Uber, educational institutes aren’t far behind. Symbiosis Institute of Media and Communication (SIMC) has now opened its gates to adorable Labrador puppies to encourage positive interactions and a stress free environment.
Dollar and Pound have been welcomed into the Lavale campus, and Euro and Yen at the Vimannagar campus. These puppies have become the centre of attraction for good reason and have initiated a lot of positive interactions among students.
Vidya Yeravdekar, the Director at SIMC, in an interview with Indian Express, was quoted as saying, “I have two Labradors at home and I know how they can positively boost one’s well-being by showering love and warmth. After a tiring day, when one reaches home, one feels wanted and loved. They are great stressbusters. I know that though students walk into the campus with a lot of dreams, somewhere they do miss their family and feel homesick. Sometimes, due to loneliness and fear of being in a new city, they also get into addiction. Thus, I decided to try pet therapy as an experiment.” Rightly so, the stress levels in the students have dropped down substantially.

Dollar, Pound, Yen and Euro sure are monetary names, but the happiness that they are getting and giving is beyond what money can ever buy. Students are visibly enjoying and playing with the furballs, finding the right thing to do in their free time. These playful puppies have brought in a lot of positivity and chirpiness in the campus area. The initiative is highly appreciated by one and all and has indeed become a milestone to achieve for every college across the country.
